On the Road to Impact: A Parikh Giving Alliance Mission Field Trip

Some of the most powerful inspiration comes from seeing purpose in action.

Across Central Florida, nonprofit leaders and their teams are creating places where people feel supported, possibilities grow and communities become stronger. Their work takes vision, determination and an extraordinary belief in what can happen when people come together.

The Parikh Giving Alliance’s Mission Field Trips give us the opportunity to experience that work firsthand. Several times a year, we gather members of our leadership team for an inspiring, fast-paced tour of local nonprofits. We meet the people behind the missions, explore their programs and learn more about the ideas, challenges and opportunities shaping their work.

Our latest Mission Field Trip took place on August 25 and included five remarkable organizations creating impact through community engagement, education and the arts. And, wow! What a day it was!

Rosen JCC

We began our day at the Rosen Jewish Community Center, an inclusive gathering place where individuals and families of all backgrounds can connect, learn and grow. Through cultural experiences, educational opportunities, family programming and community events, the Rosen JCC demonstrates the importance of creating welcoming spaces where people feel a genuine sense of belonging.

It was a meaningful start to our day and a wonderful reminder that strong communities are built through connection and shared experiences.

Opera Orlando

Our next stop took us "literally" behind the scenes at Opera Orlando, an organization working to make opera engaging, relevant and accessible to Central Florida audiences. Through live productions, educational programming and community outreach, Opera Orlando is introducing new generations to this powerful art form. Our visit offered a fascinating look at the creativity, preparation and collaboration required to bring a production to life.

CECO

At the Conductive Education Center of Orlando, better known as CECO, we learned about its innovative approach to lifelong learning for children and adults with neurological motor disabilities. CECO integrates physical, cognitive and social development to help each participant build skills, confidence and greater independence. The dedication behind this work was deeply inspiring and reflected what becomes possible when people receive individualized support and opportunities designed around their abilities.

Crealdé School of Art

Our afternoon continued at Crealdé School of Art, a nonprofit community arts organization grounded in the belief that art is for everyone. Through hands-on classes, exhibitions and community-based programs, Crealdé creates opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to explore their creativity and share their stories. Our visit reinforced the important role the arts play in encouraging expression, building understanding and connecting people across different cultures and experiences.

Art & History Museums of Maitland

We concluded the day at Art & History Museums of Maitland, where art, architecture and local history come together in one of Central Florida’s most distinctive cultural spaces. Through exhibitions, educational programs, historic preservation and creative experiences, A&H helps ensure that the stories and artistic legacy of our community remain accessible for generations to come. It was a fitting final stop and a beautiful reminder that preserving the past can inspire creativity, learning and connection today.

Inspired by the People Behind the Work

Five organizations. Five distinct missions. One extraordinary day of learning, discovery and connection. While each stop introduced us to different people, programs and possibilities, one shared theme carried throughout the day: lasting impact is powered by people who care deeply and communities willing to work together.

At the Parikh Giving Alliance, our work extends beyond providing funding. It is about listening, learning and building meaningful relationships with the organizations strengthening Central Florida. Change Maker Field Trips allow us to experience that work up close and return even more inspired by the people making it possible.

We are grateful to the dedicated teams at Rosen JCC, Opera Orlando, CECO, Crealdé School of Art and Art & History Museums of Maitland for opening their doors, sharing their stories and showing us what community impact looks like in action. We covered a lot of ground in one day, but the inspiration will travel with us for a long time.
